Knight's Dream
Where shadows meet, you will find Fel. Fel is a drowned in shadow and gloom. From pitch black caverns filled with the worst monsters of your nightmares, to barren forest where the ground rots away giving no ground to new life, Fel is a cursed land.
Out of Dokkt
The founding of Fel is a blurry tale, but what is absolute is the history of the people. Citizens of Fel originated in Dokkt, a plane of shadow and strife. Seeking a better home for themselves, they traveled through rogue portals that were torn open by great beasts of strife, and found themselves in deep caverns below what is now known as Fel. As these brave colonists emerged, they discovered that the portals had also freed all manner of monstrosities and undead, forcing them to fight through unspeakable terrors to carve their new home.
Old tales speak of the first villages as the home of those first colonists through the portals, however as more and more fled the Dokkt, room and resources grew scarce in the early villages. In order to prevent starvation, slowly groups of colonists began to found more and more villages seeking new farms and more pastures.
Service in life, and death
Soon word of these safe havens in the prime material plane reached some nobles in Dokkt, and they began to desire their own slice of the treasure. These nobles came bearing dark magics, which had once been needed for just survival in Dokkt, but now were powerful beyond reckoning. These nobles brought forth early necromancy, and began to tame the undead that roamed the lands of Fel. Soon, with hordes of undead servants at their sides, the nobles once again reclaimed their seats as they used their newfound army to carve new villages, and harvest new resources. What was once a humble gathering of villages borne for protection, soon became a metropolis, patrolled by undead guards. Fel grew rapidly, with resources aplenty the people were well fed, and with undead working all of the fields it left plenty of room for people to join and train as soldiers in Fel's foundling army, known as the Knightâs Dream.Assualt on Thalor
As the borders of Fel expanded, soon the nobles grew unhappy with their meager portion of land, and began to look towards the newly established kingdom of Thalor with a bloodlust in their eyes. Whispers filled the Court of Shade, until finally the new leader, freshly emerged from Dokkt, Prince Zol'or decreed it was time to strike. Thalor had recently fallen into famine, and the borders grew weak and unpatrolled, making easy pickings for the legion. Prince Zol'or ordered the legion to advance due north, first tackling Mt. Orion and the sparse mining villages on the mountainside.
